Meet Wes David...

The Host of our Outdoor Stage!

Wes David was born and raised on a cattle ranch near Beiseker, Alberta and has called Airdrie, Alberta home for the last 18 years. Former professional bull rider turned professional walleye tournament angler, outdoor writer, and host & producer of Fishing the Wild West TV, a fishing show dedicated to angling throughout Western Canada and the northern United States. Fishing the Wild West TV is in its 5th season and currently airing on 4 different US and Canadian networks reaching 19M households. 

Wes spends about 125 days on the water each year fishing, videoing, and researching information for magazines, TV, and conservation efforts. Wes has videoed and written magazine articles covering all freshwater fish species and fishing for them and many saltwater species. Articles and videos also cover hunting, wildlife and fisheries, fishing gear, outdoor youth, and future conservation. 

Wes is a big believer in conservation, educating about Canada's fisheries and wildlife, and getting our youth involved in the outdoors. 

Meet Lisa Roper...

Lisa Roper is an avid outdoor enthusiast and is skilled in both hunting and fishing. She has stayed true to her roots, having been raised to appreciate her adventures in the backcountry and on the water in the Lakeland Region.

Her love and passion for the outdoors is what drives her to encourage her family, women, youth and beginners alike to connect with the beauty of the land, the journey of the hunt and the thrill of fishing. With an emphasis on the importance of conservation, she offers a relatable, practical approach to experiencing a bountiful and memorable outdoor experience. 

Lisa is a regular blog contributor for Travel Lakeland, has been featured in the media and in various outdoor publications. She is proud to be named the first female brand ambassador in Canada for Len Thompson Lures and Pro-Staff in Western Canada for Spypoint Trail Cameras alongside her sponsorship with Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s, SHE, and Redhead Brand Apparel. 

Meet Paula Shearer...

Paula Shearer is an experienced fly fishing guide and industry professional in Calgary, Alberta. Her love of fly fishing began at an early age and from that point forward has paved the way to the career she is passionate about. During the Spring, Summer and Fall months you can find Paula guiding the Bow River and Mountain Streams. Paula is an internationally Certified Casting Instructor who enjoys teaching people how to fly fish and improve their cast. When she is not guiding or teaching, you will find her out on the water or traveling to fish other destinations around the world. She is a proud ambassador of SIMMS, Costa, Gloomis, Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures and several others. 

Meet the Calgary Power and Sail Squadron...

The Calgary Power and Sail Squadron represents the National organization, 'Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons' in Southern Alberta. We take safety and training seriously, and through our ongoing social events, we foster camaraderie in the Calgary boating community. 

Our courses and other programs help recreational boaters improve their boating safety knowledge as well as their vessel handling and navigation skills. 

Most of all, we share the exhilaration of getting out on the water!

Meet Rob Dunham...

Rob Dunham is a Canadian outfitter with more than 20 years of experience outfitting and guiding elk, moose, sheep, caribou, whitetail, bison, and black bear. His extensive experience in the far reaches of Canada as well as Africa make him a tremendous resource for worldwide adventure. Hands down, Rob's favorite animal to hunt is Africa's Cape buffalo. 

Meet Jordan Walsh...

The hunting tradition runs deep through Jordan's blood; spanning 6 generations & 150 years. He has been fortunate enough to work within both the outdoor & production industries for seven years & has been successful in creating top-rated content North America wide all while exercising precision & consideration to all partners & their needs. Jordan specializes in captivating an audience and sharing his experiences in fun & unique ways to increase engagement, both on the big screen & live. While long-range hunting Western Canadian big game will always remain his bread & butter, Jordan has taken a love to hunting abroad over the last four years. As such, he has partnered with multiple outfits in both Africa & New Zealand in an attempt to share the amazing opportunities that foreign hunts have to offer with as many North Americans as possible. In combining North American adventure with foreign experience, Jordan has successfully established himself as a true entertainer within the outdoor industry.

About us

Canadian National Sportsmen's shows is a not-for-profit Corporation and the largest producer of boat, fishing, ski and outdoor shows in Canada. The Calgary Boat & Sportsmen's Show, part of the Canadian National Sportsmen's Shows (CNSS), first took place in Calgary back in 1977. 42 years later, CNSS has helped protect Canada's outdoors with grants in excess of $32 million dollars. Community programs launched by CNSS include "Kids Fishing Day", which allocated more than 65,000 fishing kits to children over the 10 years of the program.
